Resignation of the Chief Executive Officer Dr. Kai-Ulrich Deissner during the course of the year 2026

Düsseldorf, 6 March 2026 – Dr. Kai-Ulrich Deissner CEO of CECONOMY AG (MediaMarktSaturn), has decided, for personal reasons, to hand over his role as CEO during the course of 2026. He has informed the company’s Supervisory Board of this decision. He has been CFO of Europe’s leading consumer electronics retailer since February 2023 and took on the role of CEO in May 2025.

Kai-Ulrich Deissner said: “It is time for me to open a new chapter in my life and reset my priorities. This is possible because CECONOMY is excellently positioned. The vision and mission of transforming MediaMarkt and Saturn from a traditional retailer into an omnichannel service platform has been implemented. After three years of continuous improvement in results, we are well on track to achieve our strategic goals, and the announced cooperation with JD.com has set the course for the next phase. We have the best prerequisites to lead the consumer electronics market in Europe. This is not my achievement, but the achievement of almost 50,000 colleagues, of whom I am proud and to whom I am very grateful – they are the ones who make this step, which I have chosen myself, possible for me.”

Christoph Vilanek, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of CECONOMY AG: “I very much regret but also respect this entirely private and personal decision by Kai-Ulrich Deissner. First as CFO and currently as CEO, he has fundamentally shaped the company and co-developed and implemented the Experience Electronics strategy. The success is visible in the form of twelve consecutive quarters of continuous growth. For this I, and the company’s shareholders, are very grateful to him. He will leave a gap. At the same time, he has built a strong team around him and thus laid the groundwork for continuity and for his succession.”

The Supervisory Board will address the situation in its meeting on 12 March 2026.
