Remko Rijnders takes over as CEO of CECONOMY and leads Europes largest consumer electronics retailer into its next phase of growth

• He has served as CFO since May 2025 and has held various leadership roles at MediaMarktSaturn for 18 years 
• The Supervisory Board will announce his successor as CFO shortly 
• Rijnders: “MediaMarktSaturn has a clear goal: We will further strengthen our position as Europe’s leading electronics retailer and actively shape the market.” 

Düsseldorf, 1 July 2026 – CECONOMY AG has a new Chief Executive Officer: Remko Rijnders takes over the leadership of the company as of today. Rijnders succeeds Dr. Kai-Ulrich Deissner, who is leaving the company at his own request. This change in leadership had already been announced in March. 

Remko Rijnders can look back on an 18-year career at MediaMarktSaturn, including almost four years with CECONOMY in China. For five years, the Dutchman served as Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the MediaMarktSaturn Retail Group, where he was responsible for the operating business in the Benelux countries as well as in Spain, Poland and Turkey. Since May 2025, he has held the role of Group CFO on the Management Board.

The Supervisory Board will decide on Remko Rijnders’ successor as CFO in due course.
